Our Story

Empower Support Solutions was founded in 2018 by social entrepreneur, Kim Balsamo. She believes that we are blessed to be a blessing, and that is what Empower is all about. Empower seeks to bring companies and their decision making processes to life through the perceived “mundane” tasks of bookkeeping and the perhaps “intimidating” tasks of managerial accounting. When small businesses understand their story, they make better business decisions to accomplish their mission and impact their communities.

Kim is a graduate of the University at Buffalo with a B.S. in Accounting. Kim moved to Bihar, India in 2017 to do microfinance work for a local NGO. However, during her time there, Kim found a need and a passion for job creation. Believing that job creation is the first step toward holistic impact in the workplace, within families, and extending to the community, Kim opened an office in Patna, Bihar to provide a safe place for young women to grow and flourish holistically.

In 2020, Kim moved back to the US to marry her sweetheart, Nick. Although the business now has a virtual model, the vision to bless both employees and clients holistically remains the same. Empower has developed from a bookkeeping company to a financial and managerial accounting firm serving a vast variety of clients and covering more than a dozen countries and time zones.
